Online Marketing Manager
Online Marketing Manager for Specsavers
Specsavers is looking for an ambitious and confident Online Marketing Manager with a comprehensive understanding of online marketing and an eye for new commercial marketing opportunities, who will play a significant role in moving Specsavers’ digital channels forward in the North.
Specsavers’ story begins in 1984 on the Channel Island Guernsey, when a married couple opened a single specs shop. Over the course of the next 30 years, and owing to a continuous entrepreneurial spirit and a strong integrity, the Specsavers brand evolved to become one of the 3 largest opticians’ chain stores in the world.
Specsavers is by today an international partnership of nearly 2000 locally-run businesses in 10 European countries, committed to delivering high quality, affordable optical and hearing care in the communities they serve.
Each store is part-owned and managed by its own directors, who are shareholders of their own businesses but who are supported by key specialists in support offices, who provide a range of services, such as marketing, accounting, IT and wholesaling, among others. The joint venture partnership ensures that the opticians and audiologists who run their stores can concentrate on delivering what they do best – provide expert eye and hearing care to their customers.
In Denmark, the Specsavers brand is represented by Louis Nielsen, and the chain here consists of 75 stores, turning over for more than 800 million kroner, and selling more than 400.000 pairs of glasses along with 60 million contact lenses each year. Specsavers/Louis Nielsen is market leading in Denmark and the Northern Region.
The Louis Nielsen headquarter is located in Aalborg, whereas the Specsavers Northern Europe Support Office is located in Hvidovre, where the position as Online Marketing Manager is open.
60 skilled employees work at the Support Office, which is one of five such offices in the North, together aiding more than 350 Specsavers/Louis Nielsen stores in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland with overall management, marketing, buying and logistics, customer service, HR, IT, economy and business development – so that the stores can concentrate on what they do best; customers and sales.
As Specsavers’ customers become ever more digital in their behaviour, we are investing in and upscaling our online presence markedly across all our markets, and right now we are looking for the right candidate to help us move our digital channels forward in the North.
As Online Marketing Manager, you will thus become a key driver of the digital marketing in Northern Europe. You will become responsible for the regional online marketing initiatives in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Holland and will work closely together with your nationally responsible colleagues in the respective countries. Further, you will become responsible of plotting the future marketing strategic course in the North, and securing the marketing team’s ability to qualify the commercial marketing opportunities that Specsavers/Louis Nielsen face. This requires a strategic mind-set and the ability to draw up business cases describing rationale, scope, go-to-markets and success criterions.
The marketing department consists of 12 employees, the online division of five; three in Denmark, one in Holland, besides the regional Head of Digital Marketing.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Business development and overseeing the execution of the overall strategies in the various Northern countries.
- Managing the planning and execution of online campaigns including display, programmatic, social and paid search and other relevant online media or channels (especially Facebook and Instagram) across our Northern Europe markets.
- Responsibility for SEO in close cooperation with media agency and web manager.
- Planning and executing tracking and test programmes in order to optimize user experience and customer journey.
- Delivering on predefined online business KPI’s.
- Ensuring lead generation, traffic driving and conversions to our e-commerce solutions in terms of sight test bookings, online sale of glasses and contact lenses by managing, developing and executing content, campaigns and price promotions.
- Advising in-country digital stakeholders to execute on the centre of excellence as well as develop and nurture a culture of best practice sharing.
- Collaboration with Danish and British media and insights agencies and the internal creative agency located on Guernsey.
- Evaluation of emerging technologies for adoption where appropriate.
You have a relevant Master’s degree and at least three to five years of experience from a similar company or from the agency side with online marketing on various international levels. Experience with e-commerce is of great relevance as well. You are used to performing hands on set-ups and ongoing optimization of online campaigns, you are data-driven, a super user in Google Analytics, and are used to work against business KPI’s. A passion for and in-depth knowledge and understanding of online marketing media, tools and tactics is equally essential. Further, you have experience with working in a matrix organization and consensus culture with many stakeholders, and you thrive in an international environment. Fluency in English and one of the Nordic languages is required.
As a person, are a self-starter and have a grounded ‘I can’ attitude. In addition, you have the confidence to take the lead and guide other stakeholders in online marketing activities. You enjoy working with tight deadlines and you have a critical eye as well as a passion for excellence and quality. Finally, you have excellent communication skills and are able to adjust tone and style according to audience.
You will be part of the Nordic Marketing Team and will report to the Head of Digital. You will work in our Northern Europe office in Hvidovre, but travelling in the region will be required from time to time. You can expect about 20 travel days a year.
As the Online Marketing Manager you will refer to Anders Koefoed, the regional Head of Digital Marketing.
